Several Observations on Maimonides’ Effect on Spinoza’s Philosophy

Abstract

As an important Jewish philosopher in Western history, how does Spinoza’s philosophical thought relate to traditional medieval Jewish philosophy and religious thought? By comparing Spinoza’s philosophy with some of the ideas in Maimonides’ thought, this article attempts to illustrate their replaceable importance of this link in understanding Spinoza’s philosophical thought.
