The Concept and Its Feature of Taoist Medicine and Its Object of the Subject and Overview of Research
Abstract
Taoist Medicine is a kind of religious medicine, as an interaction product of religious and science, its special system was built up by those Taoists who circling round its religious tenets and long-life pursuit, which in order to solve the basic problem of life and death, also its interacting with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is a branch of TCM which marked with brightening feature of Taoism.
Taoist Medicine have four features, the first, it belong to the category of religious medicine, unlike other traditional medicine, it is also theological; second, it is variety in its content and form, and there are similarity and diversity between Taoist Medicine and TCM; third, it has dual nature, that is to say, its component including good and dregs, that may belong to science or anti-science; fourth, its Treatment mode of desease is a comprehensive blends, containing physiological, psychological, sociological and religious treating mode, basing on the view of Taoist vision of universe, Harmony between man and nature and the Integrity of Body and mind.
As an important component of TCM, Taoist Medicine base on the Taoist view of life and Prevention of disease, and Taoist physicians create its own unique methods on treating vary desease. The objects of Taoist Medicine should include six aspects: first, its own origin and formation and development; second, its unique contents and system; third, some unusual treatment on some kind of desease; fourth, Taoist ways of psychological treatment; fifth, Taoist health caring theory and methods; sixth, its historical position and modern value.
