On the Ideas Crisis of Israeli Kibbutz Socialism and Its Modern Criticism

Abstract

Israel Kibbutz movement refers to the socialist movement that the Jewish immigrants established the individual collective farms one by one in Palestine since 1909. Kibbutzim are built on the educational system which adheres to the idea of common property, labor, egalitarianism, and communism. Therefore, it had made the remarkable achievements in the global scope. But since the mid-1980s, Kibbutzim were in crisis; and the core ideas for establishing Kibbutzim were challenged and attacked. To deal with the crisis, Kibbutz implement economic reform, and launched are form to address the idea crisis by rebuilding the traditional concept as the core at the same time. But this rebuilt is a passive one, it is an attempt to connect and compromise the fractured reality and tradition essentially, rather than making a plan for the future development according to the current position. The results so far have been mixed in terms of what this rebuilt has accomplished.
